There’s a reason behind the madness. Consider one a cool, functional lining of the more common trench. When it gets too warm out (think high noon, park bench chill in a patch of sun, subway rides, indoor coffee break), take the heavier one off and wrap it around your waste. Now a seemingly simple outfit just got a bit more interesting with added layers and dimensions. And when it gets cool again, as New York springs tend to do, you have that warmer trench handy (waist-y?). Christophe Lemaire’s Uniqlo U collection from the current season has this fantastic nylon trench (on sale, too) that wonderfully serves this purpose. I love the hood, the available colors (green!), and the fact that it folds nicely into a pouch (oh so Uniqlo). I’m wearing it here with a light beige trench, short-sleeved sweatshirt, and loose fitting jeans rolled up to expose my favorite Tristan sneakers from Acne Studios (a very similar, shorter style is available here). I find it to be a very well-balanced look.
