I’m totally one of those guys that finds it perfectly fine to attend some sort of event or bar by myself. I don’t consider it a loner thing, but I rather approach it with optimism in a sense that I’ll see someone I know or meet someone new. On the other side, I get it — If you want to guarantee a night in full company, going about it my way is a bit of a chance (and not a chance I want to make sometimes when I just want to have a good time with good people). Well, good thing you have plenty of options to go about it, one of which entails celebrating Absolut’s limited edition holiday bottle, Absolut Electrik (which, side note, is a beautiful addition to any bar cart for the season ahead). I experienced this first hand with a few new friends last weekend and honestly had a really great time. Here’s how you can do the same.

We all kicked off that Friday night with mule cocktails, a meat and cheese board and crudités at the Standard Grill in Meatpacking. Going into the evening, I really had no idea who I was going to meet (literally… no clue), but the point is that I went into the night excited to meet new friends and connections. I was ecstatic to see that my buddy Anthony of Oh Anthonio was joining in on the Cash Cash concert that night as he walked through the restaurant door — it’s been a while since we caught up — and I had a really good time getting to know Eugénie of Feral Creature, whom I had just met for the very first time (she’s lovely!) An hour goes by and our Lyft car — rightfully decked like the Electik bottle itself — pulls up outside. Inside the car is where we really got to know each other with a series of icebreaker games as we headed to the venue to top of the night surrounded by good music and, of course, good company.
And this is exactly how you can go about enjoying the same night I did. For any of you living in NYC, this month, you can request a Lyft Line between 8PM-10PM to get home safely from wherever you are. The even cooler part? You might catch a ride in an “Absolut Electik car” to a fun, similar event that I had experienced with Anthony and Eugénie that’ll go until midnight. As is the nature of Lyft Line, you’ll meet and get to know some cool, new people, and almost certainly find some kind of common ground (since it truly is a small world). That’s what the entire night is about: being open-minded, letting your guards down and discovering what sparks when you meet new people, because in the name of being anti-boring and anti-same-old/same-old, those kind of nights tell way more interesting stories at brunch the next day anyway.
