I’m excited about this
look because I’m (finally?) adding a splash of color. I’ve been known or joked around with being the king of black and gray (which I simply respond with well, that’s New York’s uniform) and — let’s be real, half of this look is black and gray — perhaps I can overrule that widespread notion starting today. Here’s the thing: incorporating a loud color is tricky. While I admire bold colors, patterns and prints deeply, I question the longevity due to something of that nature being too trendy, where wearing them leaves enough of a mark to become quickly exhausted by it. Of course, this is just a matter of personal preference and conviction toward wearing whatever it is. If you can see yourself incorporating the bold piece into at least several different kinds of outfits across various seasons, then it’s probably worth whatever the investment (one, you like it; two, it means something to you; and three, you feel like you can be creative with it). That’s how I feel about this Stutterheim bomber jacket, which also serves beautifully as a rain coat — a done deal for me. I can pretty much dress it down as pictured, dress it up to wear on top of a neutral suit, or keep it super casual with jeans and a t-shirt. Actually, come to think of it, you can pretty much do that with their entire collection. Anyway, let me know what you think!
