It’s evident that fall is triggering change: the leaves are getting colorful; the air’s getting crisper and somewhat cleaner; the sun’s setting earlier; dinnertime manhattans are becoming top of mind (for me at least); socks are evolving into daily necessities yet again; and we’re layering up — getting creative by mixing patterns, warmer fabrics and deeper colors to bundle up against falling temperatures. Whether I’m window shopping or scouring dot coms, layers become part of the style hunting process ranging from vests and simple sweaters to large scarves and comfy beanies. I’ve always been a big fan of exploring boutique stores around the city — it’s incredible what you’ll find just a few feet off the beaten path. In fact, I recently had the pleasure of being introduced to JACHS, a vintage-inspired shop right here in West Village NYC, abundant with colorful, comfortable & well-fitted attire for both men & women.

One closet staple you can’t really go wrong with is a slim puffer vest. When layered with a good leather jacket (blazer, lightweight trench, etc.), it offers an extra layer of warmth that combats cooler temperatures you thought you’d have needed a winter coat for, pretty much extending the wear time of your lighter weight coats deep into the fall season. This puffer is actually reversible: black on one side and printed on the other, breaking up the monotony of your days’ darker ensembles without being too loud.

I was also introduced to (and fell in love with) the artistry of jewelry designer M. Cohen, also sold at JACHS. This LA-based designer works with a mix of high quality leathers and fabrics, precious stones and carved metals to create edgy yet sophisticated pieces, each complimenting other designs within his collection making them ideal for stacking or adding to your already growing wrist game.

I had a great time putting together these looks and shooting them around the village with my talented photographer and friend, Michael. Stay tuned for another look coming your way.

While this post doesn’t give their more colorful products justice, take a look at these pictures for a peek inside the store, spotlighting some items I certainly had my eye on.
